Maria Grazia Chiuri continues to explore the role and essence of clothing in its relationship to the body and fashion with the Dior ready-to-wear autumn-winter 2023-2024 line. Redrawing the founding shapes of the 1950s wardrobe, the Creative Director celebrates more than ever the history of Dior and Parisian elegance around three extraordinary personalities: Catherine Dior, Édith Piaf and Juliette Gréco. Iconic figures driven by a spirit of independence, audacity and freedom, all reflected in a unique campaign.
A (re)reading of the Dior allure that comes to life through a series of shots by photographer Brigitte Niedermair*, exalting a reinvented, powerful, almost rebellious femininity. Between light and shadow, the decor is refined and graphic, with a dash of vivid colors echoing those subtly punctuating the collection – ruby, emerald, blue – which contrast with the shades of black magnifying the pieces.
The looks tell the story of a symbolic encounter that combines precise reference to the archives and the desire for innovation so dear to the House. The models fuse past and future: leopard and houndstooth motifs – eternal Dior fundamentals – adorn coats as well as long skirts, while crushed fabrics structured with metallic threads sublimate the outfits, mirroring the constantly renewed inventiveness of the Ateliers.
