Christian Dior loved dance, and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s shared passion for the artform culminates today in the film Nuit Romaine.
The fruit of formidable synergies, this co-production of the House of Dior, the French Embassy in Italy and the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma follows Eleonora Abbagnato1 and Friedemann Vogel, accompanied by a number of dancers, as they journey through the Palazzo Farnese2 via tableaux from director Angelin Preljocaj’s ballet.
An essential inspiration for the French choreographer, the legendary palace is transformed into a narrative setting in dialogue with costumes that merge the virtuoso craftsmanship of Dior’s ateliers with those of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, guided by Maria Grazia Chiuri.
1 The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s ballet director and star of the Opéra national de Paris, Eleonora Abbagnato has already collaborated with Dior for the Nuit Blanche ballet.
2 Home to the French Embassy in Italy, the Palazzo Farnese is one of the most beautiful monuments in Rome, a city dear to Maria Grazia Chiuri, who is of Roman origin.
