Stéphane Rolland HC Fall-Winter 2025: a baroque mechanic of Iberian dreams

Between Ravel’s structural modernism and Rubinstein’s spectral sensuality, Stéphane Rolland sculpts a haute couture symphony where Spanish myth, machine precision, and operatic excess collide with masterful restraint.

Argument. From Maurice Ravel & Ida Rubinstein. Fall Winter 2025 Haute Couture Collection This season, Stéphane Rolland shapes and sculpts a fascinating encounter between two imaginations: that of Maurice Ravel, architect of mechanical and abstract rhythm, and that of Ida Rubinstein, a muse in search of an Iberian dream-sensual and spectral.

From this tension between modernist rigor and dreamlike evocation emerges a wardrobe where Spain becomes at once mechanical and mythical, oriental and futuristic.

The silhouettes rise like musical scores: structure prevails, volumes move with the precision of an engine, yet each piece pulses with a baroque and incandescent breath. Black dominates-dramatic and noble-rendered in crepe, satin, gazar, and chiffon. Stéphane structures backless gowns with cubic collars, tuxedos with monumental lapels, semi-circular pant jumpsuits, and matador coats with intricate embroidery.

Red bursts forth like a syncopatio-Spain’s brilliance, the fire of passion, a tribute to the Boléro. The couturier adorns his long gowns with coral and crystal embroidery; samurai-style capes are covered in black and translucent sequins; giant corollas and silk flights unfold like an incandescent dream.

Gold and crystals add a near-sacred brilliance to this universe: diamond whip-brooches, plastron necklaces, ceremonial vests, and medallions suspended like talismans.

The collection oscillates between tension and ornament, between restraint and opulence, between the spirit of ballet and the machine. Like Rubinstein and Ravel, it is a meeting of opposites-a Haute Couture symphony where modern rigor, almost Japanese in style, is overtaken by Spanish fantasy.
