As a tribute to the iconic Lady Dior, the House is celebrating a decade of contemporary art with a retrospective book dedicated to the Dior Lady Art project, which is enjoying its tenth edition this year with ten artists.

Created in 1995 and named Lady Dior in honor of Lady Diana, Princess of Wales, this legendary bag embodies the timeless elegance of the Dior world. Reflecting Christian Dior’s “concern for architecture and precise form”, it made its mark on leather goods in 1947, just as the New Look did in haute couture, and was an instant hit.

In 2016, the House set out to magnify this timeless emblem by inviting artists to rise to the challenge of metamorphing it, constantly reinventing it in a work where heritage and abundant creativity intertwine.

Like a canvas, the Lady Dior bag is revealed in the purity of its lines, as if a blank surface. To date, 99 figures from the art world have made it their own, transposing their inspirations onto it, one after the other.

Driven by the excellence of the Maison’s ateliers, Dior Lady Art has given rise to an unprecedented collection, which now includes more than 270 original pieces.

Specially staged and photographed for this anthology, they form an experimental exhibition that echoes the aesthetics, commitments and questions that define the spirit of the times. Their creators offer singular interpretations steeped in sensitivity.

A new way of approaching accessories, no longer as simple adornments, but as symbols capable of breathing beauty and wonder into everyday life.
