Debuting two years ago as a precious expression of the House’s signature Damier pattern, first created in 1888, the iconic Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Fine Jewelry collection now welcomes eight new jewels – and boldly explores the tactile fluidity and unisex signature of this ever-expanding line. Drawing on the collection’s hallmark interplay of gold and diamonds, graphic design and exceptional jewelry savoir-faire, the new pieces continue to transcend genders and generations, playing on the motif’s sense of infinity, not to mention endless opportunities for self-styling and personal expression.
Earrings are a key focus, with five new standout pieces. In addition to three new large hoops available in yellow, white or rose gold, two ear cuffs have also been introduced. The collection further presents a sleek and unisex chain bracelet and – underscoring the Le Damier’s versatility – this is complemented by a refined fully adjustable sliding pendant necklace. The piece is topped with a jewel in the signature two-row silhouette – and a design story that continues in a new statement-making cuff, set with over 100 diamonds.
The new large-size hoop earrings complement the line’s existing selection of small hoops, with the new earrings set with 96 diamonds each for 1.34 carats in total. Like the smaller earrings, the new hoops come in the three gold offerings, affirming the versatile nature of Le Damier. Further playing on the collection’s -graphic and modern aesthetic are two new ear cuffs: in a single or double version. A feminine sliding pendant necklace takes center stage in the collection’s newest additions, offering endless possibilities, whether draped elegantly along a neckline or as an everyday bolo tie style… Set on a supple gold chain and featuring the signature two-row aesthetic, this fully adjustable piece adapts effortlessly to any length and any occasion.
Drawing on the same fluid and tactile signature, a delicate new yellow gold chain bracelet has also been introduced, echoing the original pendants’ jewel in a refined wrist adornment.
A striking two-row bracelet stands as the ultimate statement piece, embodying the House creativity and savoir-faire. This meticulously crafted cuff measures 9mm and is magnificently set with 120 diamonds totaling 2.8 carats, each selected for their exceptional brilliance.
These standout designs only reflect the jewelry savoir-faire and expertise behind each creation in the Le Damier collection. Hand workmanship is at the heart of every step, starting with assembly. In the bracelets for example, an average of 50 to 70 individual links, depending on the width and size, are manually assembled to create remarkable suppleness and fluidity. An almost invisible gap is left between each link to ensure flexibility and a smooth fit – which is similar to a watch bracelet – as a clasp is then aesthetically integrated into the design.
Le Damier de Louis Vuitton is themed on round diamonds set in slightly oblique squares, with each stone hand-set, using a four-grain setting. Together the unmistakable graphic Damier motif emerges – a recreation in precious gold and diamonds – while a clear geometric central line adds sharpness and modernity.
Meticulous hand polishing adds the final flourish. Creating this, mirror finish is no easy task: a distinct softness and volume are achieved, paired with the ring shank’s inner contouring for exceptional comfort. Yet this sensuous finish never compromises the geometry of the Damier pattern. The expert polishing equally preserves the design’s integrity and legibility, all enhanced further by the jewels’ polished central line.
With these eight new creations, Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Fine Jewelry collection now expands to over 30 different offerings, presenting a rich mélange of inspiration and self-styling options.
