A hardcover book will be published by Flammarion and Noiron November 11th and a dedicated exhibition La Valise Bruno Aveillan will highlight the iconic Louis Vuitton Alzer trunk, from November 13rd at LV Dream
For over thirteen years, throughout his travels, Bruno Aveillan has been photographing his Louis Vuitton Alzer suitcase in each of the places he has visited. True traveling and exploration companion, the Alzer is captured in over a hundred destinations, at limes asserting ils presence at the center of the image, at limes discreetly suggested.
Through seven themes – Crossings, Refuges, Presences, Horizons, Wild, Cities, Silences-Bruno Aveillan offers a journey that is poetic, amusing, and poignant, telling the story of an object shaped by lime through journeys and the accidents of reality.
“ln a sense, this series is also indirect/y a self-portrait. The suitcase is present wherever I go; it is my traveling companion. ln a way, it encapsulates my relationship with travel, cinema, photography, memory, and the beauty of places. Over time, the series ceases to be a mere collection ofimages and becomes a sort of diary, a travel iournal without explanatory dates, without an imposed chronology, without a linear narrative. Bruno Aveillan.
“lndeed, the suitcase invites a thousand and one proiections: the elegance of a bygone era, the melancholy of train stations, the sensuality of hotels, the memory of roads, the silence of a bedroom before sleep …” Bruno Aveillan.
A symbol of travel tradition, the Louis Vuitton Alzer suitcase is one of the House’s emblematic models. An heir to the “Porte-Habits” developed by Louis Vuitton from the 1890s, it has stood out since the 1960s for the elegance of its lines, the solidity of its structure, and the practicality of ils format. Thanks to ils rectangular silhouette and large volume, il embodies an Art of Travel that is both functional and recognizable.
The book The Suitcase by Bruno Aveillan, co-edited by Éditions Flammarion and Éditions Noir, will be released on November 11 ‘h, 2026.
Sterling November 13rd, 2026, The Suitcase will be the subject of a free exhibition La Valise Bruno Aveillan al the LV Dream exhibition space in Paris.
