Opening on October 18, 2023, the Fondation Louis Vuitton presents the first retrospective in France dedicated to Mark Rothko (1903-1970) since the exhibition held at the musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1999. The retrospective brings together some 115 works from the largest international institutional and private collections, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., the artist’s family, and the Tate in London. Displayed chronologically across all of the Fondation’s spaces, the exhibition traces the artist’s entire career: from his earliest figurative paintings to the abstract works that he is most known for today.

Today, Rankin will open a new exhibition entitled Zeitsprünge (Leaps in Time) - at The Ernst Leitz Museum Wetzlar (Leica) in Germany - opening on May 26 through to September 27- 2023. The exhibition offers a facinating and unexpected insight into Rankin’s exceptional oeuvre. Featuring some of his best pictures, taken over the past three decades, will be on display. The exhibition will include many iconic portraits and celebrity shots that have made it into the annals of photographic history: colourful beauty images and classic fashion spreads, as well as examples of his profoundly conceptual series. Titled Zeitsprünge (Leaps in time), motifs from the 1990s to the 2000s enter into a dialogue with brand new and never-before-published pictures from 2023 created for the show.
