The legendary ‘Bar’ jacket, an ever-evolving Dior icon since 1947, has been invented anew for Autumn-Winter 2020-2021 by Maria Grazia Chiuri in a contemporary and elegant knitted version. Requiring four prototypes to capture its famous sculptural and sensual allure, the heavy-gauge rib knit pieces are expertly linked by hand instead of sewn while its signature buttons are now covered in a corresponding jersey knit.
Lensed by Steven Meisel, the images in the Advertising Campaign for the Winter 2020-2021 Collection by Kim Jones capture the Artistic Director’s silhouettes in a dreamlike setting. Reinterpreting the Scenography of the Show, these striking compositions evoke the mysterious beauty of Dutch Master paintings.
